[...] In response to the report, ACW announced a plan yesterday (2 July) for a £350,000 dance development budget, allocated for 2025/26. The review concluded the dance sector was “on its knees” with “committed artists working in an incredibly resilient manner to try to shore up a failing system”. [...] The report makes several recommendations for further funding and strategic support from ACW, without which “there is danger of artist burnout, loss of developments already achieved and even complete sector collapse”. The funding body has approved some of these recommendations already, including scoping the potential for a national dance development agency, creating regional community hubs for dance within existing creative spaces and expanding opportunities for dance in education.
