About this grant

Hide Tanning Residency 2026 is a three week Indigenous Arts thematic residency at Banff Centre. It combines practical skill building, cultural learning, faculty led workshops, and public open studios.

Eligibility

  • Indigenous visual artists with traditional or contemporary arts practices interested in hide tanning processes. Groups of two collaborators are welcome and applicants must be 18 or older.
  • Hands on training in hide scraping and tanning, cultural learning circles, self directed studio time, and the opportunity to share works in progress publicly.
  • Banff, Alberta, Canada. Domestic and international applications are welcome.

How to apply

Banff asks for a resume, an artistic statement, and up to 10 work samples. Complete the financial aid question in SlideRoom and state clearly how hide tanning connects to your practice.
